Benue Ex-Commissioner, David Olofu, Dumps PDP

David Olofu, former Benue State Commissioner for Finance and Budget (2015–2023) under Governor Samuel Ortom, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Olofu, who also served as chairman of the Forum of State Commissioners for Finance of Nigeria (2019–2023), announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the Edikwu Ward 2 Chairman in Apa Local Government Area, effective June 30, 2025.

In his resignation letter, Olofu stated that his decision was driven by his desire to exercise his constitutional right to freedom of association. He emphasized that the move was made in the interest of his local community in Edikwu Ward 2, Apa LGA, Benue South Senatorial District, and Benue State at large.

Olofu currently leads a new coalition in Apa Local Government and previously served as Senior Technical Adviser to the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (2023–2024).
