Dele Momodu Declares Support for ADC-Led Opposition Coalition
Publisher of Ovation magazine and prominent political commentator, Dele Momodu, has publicly declared his support for the newly formed opposition coalition anchored by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Momodu made the statement during an appearance on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Wednesday, shortly after the coalition was formally launched earlier in the day.
Expressing enthusiasm about the development, Momodu said the coalition is a serious effort by opposition leaders to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
“I’ve always had a strong interest in political movements, whether I formally join them or not,” he said. “In principle, I consider myself part of this coalition.”
The media mogul also clarified recent remarks he made about his status within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealing that he had emotionally detached from the party weeks ago.
“I wrote two weeks ago that my soul had already left the PDP, and many assumed I was planning to join the APC. But let me be clear—I will never align with the APC,” he emphasized.
Reacting to the calibre of politicians joining the coalition, Momodu said he was taken aback by the level of participation and attributed it to widespread political disillusionment.
“It was surprising to see who showed up—it’s a sign of deep frustration,” he added. “From what I saw, 99.9% of those at the coalition meeting have committed to joining the ADC.”
