Edo Governorship Election: Senate President Akpabio Confident of APC Victory

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure victory in the Edo State governorship election in September 2024.

Speaking at the APC South-South conference in Calabar, Cross River State’s capital, Akpabio urged APC members from Edo State to intensify their efforts to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the upcoming election.

“To all of you from Edo State and any part of the South-South region, for the election in September 2024, you must focus on Edo with prayers and efforts. We will defeat Obaseki,” he declared.

Akpabio reassured the APC governorship candidate in Edo, Senator Monty, that he would have the party’s full support.

“Senator Monty, you’re not just the hope of Edo; you’re the hope of the APC in the South-South zone. We will support you to succeed,” he stated.

The Senate President also promised that the region would soon have a second APC governor, assuring Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu that he would no longer be alone.

“Governor Otu, your days of loneliness are over. Today, we have a governor in Cross River State who is showing direction in terms of performance. It’s not about talk. It’s about what you are able to do. The people will only judge you by what you put on the ground,” he said.
