The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has suspended Dan Orbih, the party’s National Vice Chairman (South-South), citing his criticisms against the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming Edo State election, Asue Ighodalo.

In a statement issued by PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba after the NWC’s 588th meeting on Wednesday, it was revealed that Orbih’s suspension stemmed from his actions concerning the Edo State Governorship Primary Election, which were deemed inconsistent with the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017 and the responsibilities of his office as a national officer.

The NWC unanimously condemned Orbih’s conduct and appointed a six-member investigative panel led by Deputy National Chairman (South) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja to probe the matter in accordance with the party’s Constitution.

Pending the investigation’s conclusion, Orbih has been suspended from participating in all NWC meetings, activities, and programs.

The statement also expressed gratitude for the support of the majority of Edo State residents backing the PDP and its candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, urging party leaders, stakeholders, and members in Edo State to maintain unity and focus on securing victory in the September 21, 2024 Governorship election.
