Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticized former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose for endorsing the re-election of incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, George expressed concern over Fayose’s declaration of support for Oyebanji, suggesting it indicates a serious issue within the party. He announced that the PDP would begin an investigation into Fayose’s actions, potentially leading to sanctions for what he termed “anti-party activities.”

George stated, “If it is true that Governor Fayose openly rejected the party and stated that he is going to work for the APC governor, he has defined his direction. From his ward, they will make arrangements for that investigation.” He emphasized that a former two-term governor should not be supporting an opposition party’s candidate, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

Fayose had previously praised Oyebanji’s performance, stating on Sunday Politics that it would take a miracle for the PDP to defeat him in the upcoming 2026 governorship election. He acknowledged his membership in the PDP but also identified as a leader in Ekiti, indicating a willingness to recognize good governance regardless of party affiliation.

George, while addressing the internal strife within the PDP, expressed disappointment over party members prioritizing personal interests over the party’s collective goals. He called for unity and urged party members to refrain from airing grievances publicly, advocating for a focus on peace and resolution within the PDP.
