Enugu AAC ex-guber candidate, Ogbodo charges coalition to rescue Nigeria
Ray Kene Ogbodo, the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in the 2023 Enugu State election, has commended the new opposition coalition for adopting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform.
In a press statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Azubuike Akam, Ogbodo hailed the development as a timely move to rescue Nigeria from the grip of hunger, insecurity, poor leadership, and governance failures.
Describing the coalition as a “movement for national transformation,” Ogbodo urged Nigerians not to lose hope, emphasizing that meaningful change is possible if the coalition is supported and voted into power by 2027.
“Within this coalition are notable individuals who have been in leadership before, made mistakes, and are now determined to correct them. They will hold each other accountable,” he said.
Ogbodo expressed alignment with the vision of the coalition, pledging his support for any initiative aimed at lifting Nigerians out of poverty. He also praised the inaugural address delivered by Senator David Mark, Acting National Chairman of the ADC, calling it “hopeful, inspiring, powerful, and magnificent.”
He called on all Nigerians of goodwill to rally behind the coalition, stressing that defeating the ruling APC would require a united front.
“No single party or individual can challenge the APC-led government without the deliberate support of the people,” Ogbodo stated.
Reaffirming his commitment to the cause, he added: “I will support the coalition in delivering good governance and holding the government accountable.”
Ogbodo further encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful in the face of economic hardship, which he attributed to leadership failure and lack of meaningful development.
“I sincerely appreciate the endurance and perseverance of Nigerians over the years; poverty should never be an option,” he said.
He outlined the coalition’s goals, which include:
-
Lifting citizens out of poverty — materially and spiritually
-
Developing a multi-faceted economy
-
Investing in modern infrastructure across rural and urban areas
-
Advancing agriculture and renewable energy
-
Improving transportation
-
Combating climate change through a cleaner environment
-
Creating a welcoming environment to attract tourism and investment
Ogbodo concluded by emphasizing that the coalition’s mission is to “reposition Nigeria for growth and take the people from hopelessness to hopefulness.”
