Former lawmaker for Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Danji Usman, has officially announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Usman made the declaration in a statement issued on Saturday in Jalingo, stating that the move will better position him to pursue his political ambitions ahead of the 2026/2027 election cycle.

He expressed gratitude to his supporters in Southern Taraba, across the state, and in the diaspora for their continued backing since his departure from the APC. He described their solidarity as a testament to a shared mission to “rescue the people of Taraba from the grip of bad governance.”

According to Usman, the decision to join the ADC followed “careful consideration, due diligence, and wide consultations.” He added that the ADC offers a credible platform to engage in the democratic process and advance policies focused on the welfare of the people.

“I therefore call on all my supporters, sympathizers, and every lover of good governance to rally behind this movement,” he said. “Let us join hands to liberate the downtrodden, lift our people from poverty, and bring succor to communities in need by standing firmly with the ADC in every way.”

Usman reaffirmed his dedication to championing a people-first agenda and urged his followers to remain committed as he embarks on what he called a new political direction.
