Letep Dabang

Letep Dabang, former Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial campaign in Plateau State during the 2023 elections, has officially resigned from his position as Political Adviser to Governor Caleb Mutfwang and returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dabang, who previously served as the APC chairman in Plateau State under former Governor Simon Lalong, defected to the PDP ahead of the 2023 general elections, where he played a key role in the successful campaign of Governor Mutfwang. Following the PDP’s victory, he was appointed as Political Adviser in the governor’s administration.

In a letter dated June 30, 2025, and addressed to the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dabang cited personal reasons for stepping down.

“Please accept this letter as a formal notice of my resignation from my position as Political Adviser,” the letter read.
“I appreciate the opportunities I have had to serve and contribute to the government of the day as Political Adviser and also as the former Director General of the Plateau State PDP presidential/governorship campaign council. Thank you for the opportunity given, and I wish the government continued success.”

APC Confirms Return

Confirming Dabang’s return to the APC, the party’s Plateau State Chairman, Rufus Bature, welcomed him back, noting that politics is driven by shifting alliances and shared interests.

“Yes, he is with us. He has joined us fully,” Bature said. “In politics, there is no permanent enemy, only permanent interest.”

Dabang’s return to the APC adds another layer to the evolving political dynamics in Plateau State as both major parties prepare for the 2027 general elections.
