Hilda Dokubo: “I Was Never Suspended from the Labour Party”
Veteran Nollywood actress turned politician, Hilda Dokubo, has denied reports that she was suspended from the Labour Party (LP) in Rivers State. Dokubo, who serves as the LP chairperson in Rivers, was allegedly suspended on Thursday by the party’s ward executive committee over claims of financial misconduct.
In response to the reports, Dokubo addressed the issue in a viral Instagram video, stating: “I was never suspended. The individuals behind this claim are not members of the Labour Party, as the LP maintains a register of all its members, particularly in Asarito torí community.
“These are PDP supporters acting on instructions from their leaders. I question their motives. I have spent over 30 years in Nollywood without any scandal and have worked with international organizations for a decade, where integrity and honor are paramount. My work has always been scrutinized, and never once has any misconduct been alleged against me.
“Entering politics means navigating challenging waters, and this appears to be an attempt to undermine me. We are currently revalidating our membership and strengthening our wards. When you refuse to be bribed or intimidated, such attacks are expected.
“At no point was I suspended, nor have I dealt with any financial matters. As the chairperson of the LP in Rivers State, I am not responsible for financial transactions, nor am I an executive member of ward 3. Clearly, they have misunderstood the situation.”
