I Fund ADC, But Opposition Coalition Will Fail – Kogi Rep Leke Abejide
Leke Abejide, the lawmaker representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has declared himself the primary financier of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while casting doubt on the success of the newly formed opposition coalition.
Speaking on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme on Thursday, Abejide stated that despite his financial support for the ADC, he is not confident in the viability of the coalition led by former Senate President David Mark.
“I’m the one financing the ADC,” he said. “But I don’t see this coalition succeeding.”
He also revealed he may not remain in the party ahead of the 2027 elections, leaving open the possibility of defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His comments follow the Tuesday announcement that the ADC has been adopted as the platform for a major opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections. The coalition named David Mark as its interim National Chairman and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.
