I’ll Never Return to Atiku, My Loyalty Remains With Buhari – Garba Shehu

Garba Shehu, former Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has ruled out any possibility of returning to serve former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, reaffirming his loyalty to Buhari.

Speaking on TVC News’s Beyond The Headlines on Thursday, Shehu said his allegiance lies firmly with Buhari, who he described as a leader who entrusted him with absolute confidence.

“If you have integrity—and I’m not claiming I do, people should judge that—I believe a man should serve only one master at a time. You can’t serve two masters without deceiving yourself or them,” Shehu said.

He explained that his continued support for Buhari stems from deep personal loyalty, not political ambition.

“When I speak on Buhari’s behalf today, I do so out of commitment. I could have walked away like others, but I chose to stay because of the trust he placed in me,” he added.

Shehu also clarified that Buhari remains politically inactive since leaving office and does not seek to compete with President Bola Tinubu.

“The only president Nigeria has today is President Bola Tinubu. Buhari will not contest that space. Even the few statements we make on his behalf are rare and deliberate, so as not to create confusion,” he stated.
