INEC Declares APC’s Adesola Elegbeji Winner of Ogun bye-election
Adesola Elegbeji, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared the winner of the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency bye-election, securing a total of 41,237 votes.
The election, held on Saturday, was organized to fill the seat left vacant by the late Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, the former lawmaker who passed away in January after a brief illness.
Announcing the results early Sunday, Returning Officer Kazeem Bello of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revealed that the APC candidate garnered 41,237 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate received 14,324 votes, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate managed 289 votes.
Breaking down the results by local government areas:

In Ikenne, with 17,477 accredited voters, APC polled 10,227 votes, PDP 5,595, and ADC 73 votes.

In Remo North, with 9,374 accredited voters, APC secured 8,052 votes, PDP 992, ADC 37, and ADP 43 votes.

In Sagamu, with 32,574 accredited voters, APC recorded 22,958 votes, PDP 7,737, and ADC 179 votes.
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) declared Elegbeji the winner, confirming that she met all requirements of the Electoral Act by obtaining the highest number of votes.
Other returning officers involved in the collation were Richard Abayomi Sobayo (Sagamu), Akeem Adekunle Makinde (Ikenne), and Matthew Wheto (Remo North).
