INEC declares PDP candidate, Folajimi Oyekunle winner of Ibadan North bye-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Folajimi Oyekunle, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of the Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election held on Saturday.

The final results were announced in the early hours of Sunday at the collation centre located at Ikolaba High School, Agodi, Ibadan.

According to the Returning Officer, Professor Abiodun Oluwadare of the University of Ibadan, Oyekunle polled a total of 18,404 votes to defeat his closest rival, Adewale Olatunji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 8,312 votes.

The election was conducted across all 12 electoral wards that make up the federal constituency.

With this victory, the PDP retains control of the Ibadan North seat in the House of Representatives.
