Former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 general elections, Dumebi Kachikwu, has criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for recognizing former Senate President David Mark as the party’s National Chairman.

Speaking during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme aired on Thursday, Kachikwu described INEC’s action as “irresponsible,” accusing the commission of undermining ongoing legal proceedings.

“What we saw from the INEC Chairman was another irresponsible act from the outgoing chairman of INEC,” Kachikwu said. “It is a norm that when you have cases in court, you respect those cases and avoid actions that could prejudice their outcomes.”

He noted that the courts are scheduled to hear matters concerning the party’s leadership—specifically involving David Mark—next month, urging Nigerians to await the judicial rulings.

Kachikwu also criticized Nigeria’s political landscape, blaming the nation’s challenges on what he described as “recycled politicians” who have consistently failed to offer meaningful leadership.

“Nigeria is seen by many as a failed nation because of these same politicians. If we keep allowing them to return to power, they will only continue to destroy the country,” he warned.
