Veteran Nollywood actor and lawyer, Kenneth Okonkwo, has predicted the “final downfall” of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its coalition of opposition forces signal the beginning of a new political era in Nigeria.

Speaking at a coalition strategy meeting, Okonkwo emphasized that the coalition’s focus is not about capturing power for its own sake, but about prioritizing the welfare of Nigerians.

“This party is not about power—it is about the welfare of Nigerians,” he said. “If there isn’t a genuine political arrangement aimed at improving the lives of our people, I’d rather stay home and pray.”

Describing the ADC as a “party of light,” Okonkwo said it is poised to rescue Nigerians from what he called the “darkness of this incompetent and corrupt APC.”

“When light shines in darkness, darkness disappears. APC will not understand what hits them,” he declared.

ADC’s Mission: Welfare Above Politics

Citing Article 3 of the ADC Constitution, Okonkwo stressed that the party’s core mission is the “pursuit of the welfare of our people and the nation.” He said this aligns perfectly with the broader goal of the opposition coalition to build a peaceful, prosperous Nigeria where all citizens have the opportunity to thrive.

Defending the Coalition Against Critics

Responding to concerns over the inclusion of former APC and PDP members in the coalition, Okonkwo argued that past political actors can still be valuable assets if they’ve learned from their failures.

“Your best teacher is your last mistake,” he said. “Many who once held power and failed to deliver are now facing the consequences—and learning.”

On potential alliances with Labour Party’s Peter Obi, Okonkwo reaffirmed his commitment to coalition-building over party loyalty. “This is the time for a coalition, not individual parties,” he said. “Whoever emerges from this coalition as presidential candidate—I will support them fully.”

Infiltration and Legal Disruptions Will Be Repelled

Addressing the risk of sabotage or legal challenges from APC loyalists, Okonkwo insisted the ADC is prepared.

“When you’re in battle, you expect spies,” he said. “But we will identify infiltrators and treat them as such. We’ve done our due diligence, and the ADC is not vulnerable to infiltration.”

A Collapsing APC

He concluded with a bold prediction that APC’s internal troubles will soon make it politically irrelevant.

“Soon, APC members will be in hiding. The shame that awaits them will make it difficult for them to face Nigerians,” he said.

The ADC-led coalition has positioned itself as a unified opposition platform committed to addressing economic hardship, insecurity, and governance failures. With 2027 on the horizon, its leaders say they are determined to prevent a fragmented opposition and present a credible alternative to the ruling APC.
