Ayo Olorunfemi, the National Vice Chairman of the Labour Party, believes that Peter Obi has the greatest chance of winning the 2027 presidential election if he runs on their party’s platform.

Obi, the former presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 election, is facing demands from certain members of his loyal support group to sever ties with the party following post-election turmoil as they prepare for the 2027 elections.

Olorunfemi, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today show on Wednesday, expressed that genuine supporters of Obi would not propose such a course of action.

I believe those advocating for it are simply delusional. The true loyalists, including student unions, Nigerian youths, and hardworking individuals, are fed up with the current state of affairs.

The hunger and unrest in Nigeria have reached a breaking point. As a party rooted in social democracy, there is no better fit for Peter Obi than the Labour Party in the upcoming 2027 election.

He maintained that the ex-governor of Anambra State is the most qualified individual to become Nigeria’s president, expressing certainty that he will win in 2027 with divine intervention.

Olurunfemi expressed optimism about the Labour Party overcoming its challenges and emerging stronger, emphasizing that under Julius Abure’s leadership, efforts will be made to restore peace within the party and welcome back former members from the Lamidi Apapa camp.

He confirmed that reconciliation efforts are ongoing and highlighted that both Apapa and Abayomi Arambabi are still active members of the party.

Furthermore, he mentioned the possibility of a special convention to address vacant positions left unfilled during the previous convention.
