Lagos APC Sets Up Reconciliation Committee to Heal Primary Election Rift

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has established a reconciliation committee to address grievances arising from the recent party primaries.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji Oladejo, who described the move as part of APC’s wider effort to resolve internal conflicts and foster unity ahead of upcoming elections.

Oladejo explained that the party aims to settle all disputes related to the primaries within two weeks, ensuring a cohesive front for the local council elections.

The primaries, which selected APC candidates for local government positions across Lagos, sparked protests and generated numerous petitions questioning the transparency and fairness of the process.

“The party, after reviewing reports from the appeal committee, has decided to activate its internal conflict resolution and reconciliation mechanisms to enter the elections united,” the statement said.

The reconciliation committee has been organized across the state’s senatorial districts as follows:

  • Lagos East: Chaired by Dr. Lateef Ibirogba, with members Saheed Afonja, Sumbo Onitiri, and Sade Bakare.

  • Lagos Central: Led by former Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs) Sarah Sosan, alongside Funso Ologunde, Adedoyin Banjo, and Adigun Olalekan.

  • Lagos West 1: Headed by Otunba Bode Oyedele, with Chief Jide Damazio, Alhaji Aleshinloye, and Comfort Olalere as members.

  • Lagos West 2: Chaired by Alhaji Mutiu Are, supported by Hon. Jumoke Okoya, Otunba Kehinde Adeniyi, and Adeola Rashidat.

The committee’s work is expected to strengthen party unity and clear the path for a successful election campaign.
