IBADAN, NIGERIA NEWS 247 – Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has boldly asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, will be taken aback by the results of the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State, scheduled for November 16.

Makinde, who serves as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest region, believes that the ruling party will not only face defeat in Ondo but will also struggle in future elections across the Southwest geopolitical zone.

During a campaign event in the Akoko region of Ondo State, Makinde emphasized his confidence in the PDP’s ability to unseat the APC, which he described as the “nemesis of Nigerians.”

This statement comes in response to Ganduje’s recent remarks made in Akure, the Ondo State capital, where he claimed that the APC was poised to capture the Southwest following a victory in the Ondo election. In a parallel assertion, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa stated that the PDP had become irrelevant in the state.

Despite these claims, Governor Makinde countered by highlighting the vibrancy and determination of the PDP in Ondo. “PDP is alive and kicking in Ondo State,” he proclaimed, asserting that the party is fully committed to winning the governorship election. He expressed his belief that both Ganduje and Aiyedatiwa would be surprised by the election outcome.

Makinde pointed to the enthusiasm and energy of the crowds during the campaign, stating, “If wishes were horses, everybody would be riding them. I can assure you that the people of the Southwest, especially in Ondo State, are wiser. Just look at the crowd and their excitement.”

He confidently declared, “On November 16th, they will send a clear message to Ganduje that Ondo State, and indeed the entire Southwest, belong to the PDP. Talk is cheap, but the people of Ondo State will make their voices heard loud and clear on election day, and the entire nation will take notice.”
