Matawalle Rates Gov Lawal’s Performance Low, Begins Rallying APC for 2027
Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has criticised the Zamfara State Government and called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rally support for a change of leadership in the state.
Matawalle made the comments while addressing APC leaders and supporters during his political visit to the state, held at the party’s secretariat in Gusau.
He accused Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration of failing to deliver on its campaign pledge to curb banditry within its first 100 days in office, alleging that the security situation has instead worsened.
The minister further claimed that several members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were defecting to the APC due to dissatisfaction with the state government’s performance.
Matawalle urged residents to evaluate the administration’s achievements over the past two years and determine whether it had recorded any significant progress, insisting that most ongoing projects were inherited from previous governments.
APC supporters from various parts of the state attended the event, with many chanting that the PDP-led government should vacate the Government House to make way for the APC.
