Nasarawa PDP Warns Members Against Opposition Coalition Amid Internal Defections
The Nasarawa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to its members, cautioning them against joining any opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. In an official statement signed by State Publicity Secretary Mallam Hamza Ibrahim, the party reaffirmed its commitment to unity and internal rebuilding, declaring itself “stronger and more formidable than ever” in its bid to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The state chapter of the PDP vehemently distanced herself from the ADA/ADC/COALITION,” the statement read, urging stakeholders and members to boycott any coalition meetings. The party insisted its internal restructuring would resolve disputes and strengthen grassroots confidence, adding that “the UMBRELLA is big enough to accommodate all interests.”
Despite this tough stance, cracks have emerged within the party. Sources confirm that hundreds of PDP members, including key stakeholders, have resigned and joined the coalition platform under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), indicating deep-seated unrest in the party’s ranks.
In response, the PDP plans to hold an expanded State Executive Committee meeting in the coming days to assess its progress, address internal challenges, and chart a strategic course for the 2027 elections.
