The North-Central APC Forum has accused the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, of obstructing Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang from joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement on Sunday, the forum alleged that Yilwatda has failed to foster unity in the North-Central region and is prioritizing personal political ambitions over the growth of the party. The group claimed that the chairman, who lost the 2023 Plateau governorship election to Mutfwang, is blocking the governor’s defection to safeguard his 2027 political plans.

The forum also criticized Yilwatda for a recent church appearance in which he claimed to represent Christians in the North-Central region, describing the remarks as divisive and contrary to APC principles.

Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the forum’s chairman, said Yilwatda’s lack of political experience—having never held an elected office—has deepened divisions within Plateau State and the wider North-Central region. The group called on APC leadership to consider appointing a more competent national chairman during the party’s planned December convention.

Despite their criticisms, the forum reaffirmed support for President Bola Tinubu and pledged to deliver votes from the North-Central region in the 2027 elections.
