Okigwe PDP Rallies for Unity Ahead of 2027, Launches Zonal Reconciliation Committee
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Okigwe Zone has taken bold steps to reposition itself as a strong political force, convening a high-level stakeholders’ meeting aimed at addressing internal divisions and reinforcing party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the gathering, the State Vice Chairman of PDP (Okigwe Zone), Chief Chuks Ajaelu, emphasized the importance of solidarity and collective resolve in reclaiming power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“In any family, misunderstandings are bound to happen, but what truly matters is how the family comes together afterward,” Ajaelu said. “The PDP is a large political family that cannot be broken by internal disagreements.”
In a show of unity and confidence, stakeholders at the meeting passed a unanimous vote of confidence in the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, and the Imo State PDP Chairman, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu. Both were praised for their outstanding leadership and commitment to keeping the party vibrant and active in the state.
Ajaelu applauded party leaders for their dedication to peace-building and reconciliation efforts, urging continued vigilance against actions or rhetoric that could divide the party. “We must not allow selfish interests or internal conflicts to derail our shared goals,” he cautioned.
One of the major resolutions from the meeting was the formation of the Okigwe Zonal Reconciliation Committee, tasked with reaching out to aggrieved members across the six local government areas of the zone and rebuilding trust within the party ranks.
In a symbolic gesture aimed at reinforcing camaraderie and appreciation, specially designed wrappers were presented to zonal executive members, LGA chairmen, women leaders, and youth leaders.
The meeting brought together prominent stakeholders and party loyalists from across the zone’s six LGAs, marking a renewed chapter of dialogue, collaboration, and forward planning as the PDP sets its sights on electoral victory in 2027.
