Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has criticized the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, accusing him of creating confusion and mismanaging the party.

Speaking during an appearance on AIT’s Focus Nigeria, Ologbondiyan said only Damagum can explain to Nigerians the rationale behind what he described as poor leadership and misleading decisions.

“It’s only Damagum that can come out and tell the public why he is misleading the party, why he is not managing it properly, and why confusion is growing within the ranks,” he stated.

The former spokesman said it was time for Damagum to step aside and allow the North-Central zone, to which the position originally belongs, to nominate a substantive national chairman.

“I’ve said this for over a year—Damagum should go and take his seat and let the North-Central produce a proper chairman,” he said. “If you accept a leadership position, even as a class monitor, you owe it to yourself and those you serve to act with fairness, equity, and justice.”

Ologbondiyan also raised concerns over the situation surrounding the party’s National Secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu, who is currently in court against the PDP. He questioned the legitimacy of decisions taken by Damagum and what he referred to as a “committee of friends” within the party.

“The feeling now is that the PDP is drifting from one crisis to another, and clearly, they’ve opened the floodgates of crisis once again,” he warned.
