PDP Chieftain, Adnan Muktar Adam dumps party, Cites Alliance with APC and Internal Crisis
A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adnan Muktar Adam, has officially resigned from the party, just hours after his political ally and former gubernatorial aspirant, Ibrahim Ali Amin Little, also quit the PDP.
In a resignation letter dated July 3, 2025, and addressed to his ward leadership in Tudun Wada, Adnan expressed deep disappointment over the PDP’s direction and alleged growing alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The PDP has increasingly aligned itself with the APC at the national, zonal, and state levels,” Adnan wrote. “These developments are deeply disheartening, frustrating, and unfortunate.”
He accused the party of abandoning its role as a credible opposition, stressing the importance of a strong alternative to ensure democratic accountability in Nigeria.
“The PDP has failed to offer Nigerians the alternative leadership and vision required at this critical time. Instead, it has chosen to align with elements of the ruling government, thereby betraying the trust of many who once believed in its ideals,” he stated.
Adnan also pointed to persistent internal crises as a major factor in his decision, noting that the party has struggled with internal instability across all levels.
Concluding his letter, Adnan announced plans to join a new coalition movement aimed at “rescuing Nigeria from its current socio-economic hardship.”
His exit marks another high-profile defection from the PDP amid growing calls for a unified opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
