Mr. Chidi Chidebe was elected as the new Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra on Thursday, following a successful congress held at the Women Development Centre in Awka.

Chidebe, who previously served as the PDP Youth Leader in Anambra, secured his position by receiving 1,080 votes, defeating his opponent Amechi Onowu, who garnered 960 votes.

In addition to Chidebe’s election, Charles Anierobi was appointed as the Deputy Chairman, and Mr. Ebele Onunkwo was elected as the party’s Secretary.

Ifeanyi Ossai, the Deputy Governor of Enugu State and Chairman of the Anambra PDP Congress Committee, addressed the new leadership, emphasizing the importance of rebuilding, restoring, and reconciling with all aggrieved party members in the state.

Ossai highlighted Anambra’s critical role in the PDP’s overall strategy, stating that success can only be achieved through unity among party members. He encouraged the new leadership to collaborate with those who contested but did not win in the elections.

“Last week, when we failed to conduct the congress, I assured PDP members in Anambra that it would be free, fair, and transparent. I am pleased to see that this promise has been fulfilled,” Ossai remarked.
