This decision was part of the resolutions from a four-hour meeting in Enugu on Wednesday, where Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, addressed the press on behalf of his colleagues.

He also advocated for a political solution to the ongoing crisis in Rivers State between Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

While presenting the communique, the PDP Governors’ Forum acknowledged the protracted nature of minimum wage negotiations amid the unprecedented hardship faced by the people. They stated that the organized labour’s demand for a substantial salary increase is justified.

The forum emphasized that any agreement must consider the payment capacity of subnational, federal, and local governments, and called for restraint in actions and statements to prevent a breakdown of law and order and economic collapse.

Declaring their support for local government autonomy as enshrined in the constitution, the forum affirmed the efficacy of the local government system in bringing governance closer to the people.

Expressing regret over the hardships faced by Nigerians under the All Progressives Congress-led federal government, the PDP Governors’ Forum promised to restore the days of low inflation rates and affordable food, fuel, and transportation.
