The Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Phrank Shaibu, has dismissed recent attacks from President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, against defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.

Shaibu described Onanuga’s comments as a “political obituary laced with bitterness,” accusing the APC of crumbling under its own failures and lacking any meaningful ideology.

Responding on X, Shaibu said:
“You mention names like Amaechi, Aregbesola, Malami, and Oyegun — men whose footprints are etched in the very foundations of the APC. But now that they no longer genuflect before the emperor, you reduce them to disgruntled or irrelevant.”

He challenged Onanuga’s claim that the coalition has no ideology by highlighting the APC’s record of “hunger, insecurity, fuel hikes, propaganda, and presidential absenteeism,” as well as economic decline under the ruling party.

Shaibu warned that the ruling party’s “desperation” was driving the attacks, but insisted the coalition formed out of necessity to end the hardship inflicted on Nigerians.

He concluded:
“The time of reckoning is coming. The lies are ending. No propaganda will stop the people from reclaiming their country.”
