The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has disassociated himself from campaign materials circulating for the 2027 elections, stating he neither authorised nor sanctioned the production of campaign caps and shirts.

Addressing his supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Fubara emphasized his desire for peace and political stability, which he believes are essential for personal and regional progress. His remarks follow President Bola Tinubu’s recent intervention to resolve the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

Fubara’s long-standing feud with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, led to his six-month suspension and the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State by President Tinubu. The crisis was formally addressed last week during a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Reacting to the campaign materials, Fubara said, “I was upset when someone forwarded to me a video showing the production of campaign caps and shirts for the 2027 general elections. I am not aware of it, and I did not authorise or send anyone.”

He appealed to his followers to embrace peace, stating, “We have done our best, and what we need now is peace for us to grow.”
