Senator Masaud Doguwa, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Doguwa’s defection comes amid accusations that President Bola Tinubu’s administration lacks focus and has implemented policies that have plunged the nation into poverty.

In a statement he signed, Senator Doguwa announced his departure from the APC, citing feelings of underutilization and dissatisfaction with the party’s direction. He emphasized that both he and his supporters felt sidelined despite their extensive political experience.

“In politics, if you fail to engage highly experienced politicians by providing them with political assignments, you make them politically redundant and give them room to find engagement elsewhere,” Doguwa stated. “Highly experienced politicians don’t want to stay idle.”

Doguwa expressed disappointment with the APC government’s policies, arguing that they are detrimental to ordinary citizens. “After careful appraisal, I have discovered that some of the policies are anti-people-oriented and do not align with our political ideology,” he said. “These policies are causing more harm and concern than good to the ordinary and common citizens of the country.”

He added, “From what we have seen happening in APC, we have not seen light in the tunnel where an ordinary man, big or small, will sigh relief from the burden of life with the APC approach on issues.”
