Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau Denies Defection Rumours, Affirms Loyalty to PDP
Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau, representing Taraba North Senatorial District, has dismissed reports claiming he has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), labeling the claims as entirely false.
In a statement released on Friday by his Media and Communication Strategies Unit, Senator Lau reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the PDP, clarifying that he remains an active and loyal member of the party.
“Senator Lau has been a PDP member since his first election to the Senate in 2017 and continues to serve in that capacity,” the statement noted, highlighting his elections to the 8th, 9th, and now 10th National Assembly—all under the PDP. He also currently serves as the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, a position he has held since 2022.
The senator’s office further stated that there has been no formal declaration or notice of defection filed with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), discrediting any rumours of a party switch.
Calling on the public and media outlets to disregard the unfounded reports, Lau’s team warned against the spread of misinformation and urged reliance on verified facts.
Senator Lau concluded by reaffirming his commitment to serving the people of Taraba North under the banner of the PDP, which remains the ruling party in the state.
