Shehu Sani Reacts to Atiku’s PDP Exit: “When the Admin Left the Group”

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has responded to the resignation of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a characteristically witty remark.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Sani wrote: “Waziri; When the Admin left the group,” in reference to Atiku’s exit — a tongue-in-cheek analogy likening the political heavyweight’s departure to a group chat losing its administrator.

Atiku officially resigned from the PDP on July 16, 2025, in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Jada 1, Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State. In his resignation, the former presidential candidate cited the party’s deviation from its founding principles and claimed irreconcilable differences had made his continued membership untenable.

Following his exit, Atiku has aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a key player in the emerging opposition coalition. There is growing speculation that he may seek the coalition’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.

Atiku’s move marks another significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape, and Sani’s comment captures the symbolic weight of the former vice president’s departure from one of Nigeria’s major political parties.
