Taraba APC Warns Members Against Accepting PDP Political Appointments
The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to its members against accepting political appointments from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led state government without prior approval from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The directive, contained in a statement signed by the APC State Chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, on Tuesday, emphasizes that any member who violates this order risks immediate deregistration from the party.
“No member of the party is permitted to accept appointments from the incumbent state government without approval from the APC’s National Working Committee,” the statement read.
Citing Article 9.5 of the APC Constitution (Amended 2022), the party stated that members who accept political appointments from another party in government without NWC clearance shall automatically forfeit their membership.
The statement added, “A person shall cease to be a member of the party if he accepts political appointment from another political party in government without the approval of the National Working Committee.”
To enforce this directive, the APC has instructed the 168 ward chairmen in the state to expunge the names of offending members from the party register immediately. Similarly, chairmen of the 16 local government councils have been tasked with identifying those who have accepted positions in the PDP-led administration and barring them from participating in the upcoming electronic registration exercise.
Through the state chairman, the party expressed appreciation to loyal and principled members for their patience and dedication, promising that their commitment would be duly recognized and rewarded.
“We thank all principled and law-abiding members for remaining steadfast and patient,” the notice concluded.
The warning comes in the wake of reports that several APC members in Taraba were recently appointed as aides by the current PDP state governor—a development that reportedly displeased the APC leadership in the state.
