Taraba Government Clarifies Temporary Administrative Changes in Deputy Governor’s Office
The Taraba State Government has addressed recent concerns regarding the temporary administrative arrangement in the office of the Deputy Governor.
At a press briefing in Jalingo, Professor Josiah Kente, Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Agbu Kefas, clarified that Dr. Emmanuel Lawson Hassan’s appointment to oversee the Deputy Governor’s office is a temporary measure while Deputy Governor Alhaji Aminu Alkali Abubakar undergoes medical treatment.
Kente emphasized that the appointment is not a replacement nor a usurpation of the Deputy Governor’s mandate, but rather a stop-gap to ensure smooth governance and continued service delivery.
He dismissed allegations that the decision was influenced by religion or politics, calling such claims “dangerous and unproductive.” Kente urged political actors and the public to avoid divisive narratives that could cause unnecessary tensions.
The government also reassured the public about Deputy Governor Abubakar’s health, noting that Governor Kefas maintains regular contact with him and his family, offering moral support.
