Tinubu’s Road Projects Based on Economic Value, Not Regional Bias – Presidential Aide replies Kwankwaso
Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Print Media, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has stated that the Federal Government is executing road infrastructure projects across Nigeria based on their economic value, not regional considerations.
Speaking on The Morning Brief, a programme on Channels Television, Abdulaziz dismissed claims by Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who accused the Tinubu administration of prioritizing road development in southern Nigeria at the expense of the North.
In response, Abdulaziz emphasized that all projects under the Tinubu administration are designed with a national outlook.
“We should look at things as national projects and not as northern or southern projects, which is a major problem,” he said. “The most important thing is the value these projects bring, not just where they are located. What are the economic benefits of these roads?”
He maintained that the administration is committed to equity and balance in infrastructure development. “There is a need for justice and fairness, and I don’t think anyone can fairly accuse this government of bias against any region. Projects are being distributed equally across the country,” he added.
Addressing Kwankwaso’s claim that the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway had been abandoned, Abdulaziz clarified that work has resumed on the critical corridor, which serves as a major link in the North-West.
He also highlighted the ongoing construction of the Sokoto-Badagry Road, which spans a significant portion of northern Nigeria. He noted that the project is just as important as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in the South, reinforcing the administration’s balanced approach to national development.
