US Election: Idam Reveals Why Biden Withdrew from Presidential Race

Nigerian activist lawyer Madubuachi Idam has suggested that President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the U.S. presidential race was due to his poor debate performance and deteriorating health.

In a discussion with NIGERIA NEWS 247, Idam contrasted this with Nigerian politics, where he believes competence is often overlooked. He argued that Nigerian politicians rarely face consequences for poor performance or health issues, and that money rather than skill is the primary factor in elections.

Idam said, “Joe Biden’s exit from his second presidential bid is largely due to his weak debate performance and his failing health. In Nigeria, politicians often disregard debates without repercussions, and those who underperform or avoid debates frequently get elected.

“Competence takes a back seat to financial influence in Nigerian politics. We continually demand change while electing leaders who are both ineffective and unwell, yet expect them to manage a nation of over 250 million people effectively.

“Leadership should not be a gamble. Effective economic growth requires sound policies crafted with clear intentions. Nigerians must start considering the mental and physical health of their leaders to address our leadership challenges.”
