Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Kingsley Moghalu, has outlined reasons why President Joe Biden cannot be discounted in the upcoming US presidential election.

Moghalu emphasized that the outcome between former President Donald Trump and Biden remains uncertain.

He argued against prematurely dismissing Biden due to his age and performance in the first debate, cautioning that such judgments do not accurately reflect the election’s actual dynamics.

In a Thursday post on his X handle, Moghalu pointed out that despite Trump facing 34 felony counts, his legal challenges do not necessarily diminish his electoral prospects.

“The debate over whether @JoeBiden should step down is overblown. Serious campaigning for the US presidential election has yet to begin,” Moghalu stated.

“Political elites do not speak for ordinary Americans. We cannot predict who will win between Donald Trump and Biden. Writing off Biden due to his age (despite his significant governance achievements and support for some controversial social policies) and a shaky debate performance is following a trend that does not accurately reflect the election’s real outcome.

“While Trump faces 34 felony convictions, this does not reduce his chances of defeating Biden.

“Today’s America is a country where right-wing populism has become mainstream for valid reasons. Let’s closely monitor this race,” he concluded.
