Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly challenged former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his recent call for Nigerians to revolt against the Bola Tinubu administration.

Wike, speaking on Friday during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in Gwagwalada, Abuja, said he is prepared to confront Amaechi and any resistance he leads in Rivers State.

Amaechi had, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, urged Nigerians to rise against perceived failures of the current administration. In response, Wike, a former Rivers State governor, warned that if Amaechi wants a revolt, he should begin by leading it himself—alongside his own children.

“You that is inciting Nigerians to revolt, I’m waiting for you in Rivers State,” Wike said. “You will start there first and lead it with your children—not while your children are in London and you’re here calling for a revolution.”

Wike reminded the public of his past political victories over Amaechi, saying, “I was not even governor in 2015 when I stopped a sitting governor from installing his successor. I defeated him.”

He continued, “In 2019, he was a ‘super minister’ borrowing from Chinese banks. He was Director-General of the presidential campaign and still couldn’t deliver 20 percent in Rivers State. I defeated him again.”

Wike concluded with a direct challenge: “If you’re serious about this revolt, bring your children and let’s face each other. Then we’ll know you really mean what you’re saying.”

Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, commissioned the project at the event.
