Wike Responds to Amaechi: Tinubu Defeated You Decisively in 2027 APC Primaries
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, is aware he will not secure the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket for the 2027 presidential election.
Wike’s comments came in response to Amaechi’s recent assertion that he would easily defeat President Bola Tinubu if he wins the ADC nomination.
Amaechi had stated in an interview that beating Tinubu would be straightforward should he become the party’s candidate.
Some political analysts believe Amaechi or other serious contenders could challenge Tinubu in the upcoming elections, citing the country’s current economic challenges.
However, Wike questioned Amaechi’s confidence, pointing out that Amaechi was unable to defeat Tinubu in the 2022 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary, where he finished a distant second to Tinubu, who won decisively at Eagle Square.
Speaking on Channels TV on Tuesday, Wike said, “Amaechi knows he will not get the ADC ticket.
“I read that he said he knows President Tinubu’s weaknesses and how to defeat him, but he also knew those weaknesses in 2022 when the President decisively defeated him in the primaries.”
