Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he will support a presidential candidate in 2027 who is committed to Nigeria’s growth and national interest—regardless of political affiliation.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike emphasized that his support will not be driven by party loyalty alone, but by a desire to prevent the country from regressing.

“I will support somebody who I know will make Nigeria grow, somebody who has the interest of Nigeria,” Wike stated. “I don’t believe in sentiment or mere emotion. Because I’m a party man doesn’t mean I’ll watch the country go backwards.”

He stressed his continued loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while also defending his right to challenge internal party decisions.

“As a member of NEC, if no notice of meeting has been served, I have every right to challenge it. Nobody can deny me that,” he said.

Wike also hinted at tensions within the PDP, noting that his political group is set to meet soon to address perceived injustices. “We will not allow injustice to prevail,” he asserted. “Nobody serves the interest of the PDP more than me.”

He defended his political stance, saying it’s not unprecedented for politicians to support one party while working with another. “I’m not the first person who has served in one party while identifying with another,” he added.

Wike concluded by reaffirming his belief that power should return to the South in 2027, stating: “My conscience is clear. I stand for justice, fairness, and equity. In 2027, it will still be power moving to the South.”
