Wike warns: “We won’t Accept Results from the Government House in the 2027 Elections”
With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has issued a strong warning to his opponents in Rivers State.
Wike cautioned that those opposing him will not be permitted to engage in electoral malpractice from the Rivers State House of Assembly during the upcoming elections.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, Wike stressed the importance of avoiding mistakes in the forthcoming general election.
He stated, “You shift blame to others, and that is unacceptable. Look at the APC and PDP; they represent a coalition of what we might face in 2027.
“I can’t predict what will unfold in 2027 or what will happen in this state then. The local government election is not the same as a general election.
“Do you believe we will allow you to take the results sheet to the government house and announce it without scores?
“Who would permit that in the general elections? It will not happen. So, do not make that mistake. We never contested the local government election.”
The political landscape in Rivers State remains divided between Wike and Governor Sim Fubara, who have been at odds over control of the state, despite President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to mediate.
