“You Are So Shameless” – Charly Boy and Others Criticize Tinubu’s Aide for Attacking Peter Obi

Veteran Nigerian singer and social activist Charles Oputa, known by his stage name Charly Boy, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, for his comments about Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Onanuga had taken to his verified X handle to call out Peter Obi for not commenting on the Supreme Court’s judgment granting full financial autonomy to local governments. In his post on Friday, he questioned why the former Anambra governor had not tweeted about the decision even after 36 hours.

“Why is Peter Obi silent?” Onanuga wrote. “More than 36 hours after the Supreme Court gave a landmark ruling, granting financial autonomy to Nigeria’s 774 local councils, Mr. Peter Obi, the defeated Labour Party candidate, has yet to utter a word on the epochal judgment. His silence confirms the belief that he is always quick to tweet unverified news about the Tinubu administration or our country.”

Onanuga’s remarks did not sit well with many of Obi’s supporters, who took to the comment section to criticize the presidential aide.

Charly Boy responded to the post, writing, “Why are you so shameless?”

Popular Nigerian journalist David Hundeyin also commented, saying, “Go drunk Bayo, you’re home.”

Another X user and influencer, FS Yusuf, remarked, “Sugar dey him mouth? Why are you looking for what he will say? If your policies will work, you will hear it from the masses and not Peter Obi. Shebi una say una win election?”
