The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of using personal attacks as a diversion from what it describes as the failures of the Bola Tinubu-led administration.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC called on the APC to focus on its responsibility to the Nigerian people rather than engaging in what it described as petty and diversionary tactics.

The ADC expressed concern that the ruling party continues to act like an opposition party, despite holding significant power at the federal level.

“It is troubling that a party controlling the presidency, both chambers of the National Assembly, and the vast machinery of the Nigerian state still behaves as though it is in opposition,” the statement read.

The party challenged the APC to provide answers to Nigeria’s mounting issues, including insecurity, economic hardship, and growing disunity, rather than targeting critics such as former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

“The APC has chosen distraction over substance, insults over introspection, and propaganda over performance,” the ADC stated. “But while words can be manipulated, the facts on ground cannot.”

Abdullahi stressed that Nigerians are demanding real solutions to pressing issues such as hunger, unemployment, and widespread despair, not verbal attacks on opposition figures.

The ADC urged the ruling party to rise to its responsibility and stop deflecting attention from its governance record by targeting those asking critical questions.
