The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded sharply to former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, following his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement posted on its X (formerly Twitter) account, the APC accused Babachir of attacking Tinubu out of frustration because he had aspired to be vice president, but Tinubu chose a more qualified and refined candidate instead.

The party described Babachir as the latest political “content creator” and soothsayer desperately seeking political relevance.

According to the APC, Babachir has given numerous provocative and unwarranted interviews before, but none matched the “incoherence and desperation” displayed during his recent television appearance on Monday.

“That performance revealed a deeply troubled individual, unraveling before the public, wildly swinging in all directions, and embracing ideological inconsistency as if it were a badge of honor,” the party said.

The APC added, “It was clear that his appearance on Channels TV was a poorly scripted attempt to bait President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This is the same man who once swore that the ‘wrath of God’ should fall on anyone who stood in Tinubu’s path to the presidency.”

“Now, he casually insults that very man, disrespects his office, and makes derogatory remarks. This speaks volumes about Babachir’s character — a fair-weather friend, opportunist, clout chaser, and politically unstable crusader.”

While advising Babachir to reconsider his actions, the APC warned him against denigrating President Tinubu and his office, noting that these televised rants do not grant him relevance but only remind Nigerians why he lost his position and is fading into political obscurity.

DAILY POST recalls Babachir’s earlier claim that Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi actually won the 2023 elections.

However, the APC firmly rejected this, affirming that Tinubu was the lawful winner of the 2023 elections and remains Nigeria’s duly elected president until 2027.

“Your assertion that Peter Obi ‘won’ the 2023 elections is not only false but a blatant lie. The people have spoken, the law has affirmed it, and the courts have ruled,” the APC concluded in its response to Babachir.
