Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Kai Havertz after the German scored the decisive goal against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Tuesday night.
Havertz came off the bench to net the only goal of the game, sealing a 1-0 win over Arsenal’s London rivals and sending the Gunners through to the Carabao Cup final.
Speaking after the match, Arteta said the former Chelsea forward fully deserved the moment, especially after scoring against his old club at the Emirates Stadium.
“Everyone who knows Kai is genuinely happy for him because he deserves the best,” Arteta said.
“His work ethic and the way he treats people every day are top-class. I just hope he enjoyed the moment because he deserves it.”
Havertz will now be hoping to feature again and help guide Arsenal to victory when Arteta’s side face Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday.
