“This Is Why Arsenal Are Flying” – Rooney Names the Key Man This Season

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has said Viktor Gyokeres is playing a key role in Arsenal’s performances this season.
Rooney explained that the Sweden international has been influential for Mikel Arteta’s side by constantly occupying opposition defenders and creating space for his teammates.
Gyokeres joined the Gunners from Sporting Lisbon during last summer’s transfer window.
Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, the former England international said:
“We saw what Gyokeres did at Sporting. I know it was a different country, but he was scoring more goals than anyone and was absolutely on fire.
“I’ve backed Gyokeres this season and people have given me a bit of stick, but I still think he’s making a difference for Arsenal.
“He’s occupying defenders and that helps the team. I know he doesn’t have the goals or assists you’d expect from a centre forward, but I still believe he’s having an impact.”
