Brandon Glanton Beats Marcus Browne in Six Rounds TKO in Lagos
Brandon Glanton secured a strong comeback victory in Lagos, Nigeria, forcing Marcus Browne to retire on his stool after a punishing sixth round in their cruiserweight clash.
The two fighters, evenly matched on paper, headlined an Amir Khan Promotions event. However, it was Glanton’s relentless pressure and come-forward style that ultimately made the difference.
Early rounds saw Browne, with a record of 25-3 (16 KOs), use his sharp footwork to keep Glanton at bay, smoothly evading attacks and controlling the pace. But by the second round, Glanton, who stands at 21-3 (18 KOs), managed to trap Browne against the ropes, launching a focused body attack.
Browne’s decision to trade punches inside played into Glanton’s hands, especially as Browne appeared fatigued after more than two years away from the ring.
Sensing his opponent’s weariness, Glanton ramped up the pressure in round five, physically dominating Browne whenever he tried to clinch. In the sixth round, “Bulletproof” Glanton unleashed a barrage of heavy hooks, relentlessly denying Browne any chance to recover.
Despite Browne’s sporadic attempts to fight back, it was Glanton who celebrated in the ring after Browne’s corner decided to pull their fighter out.
“I told you that boy was going to quit; I told you,” Glanton said in his post-fight interview, immediately calling for a rematch over 12 rounds.
Regardless of what lies ahead, Glanton can take pride in this victory after his recent unanimous decision loss to Chris Billam-Smith in April.
