Conor Benn Rules Out Trilogy Fight With Chris Eubank Jr.
Two of British boxing’s biggest names are set to face off again in just two months, as Conor Benn prepares for a rematch against Chris Eubank Jr. following his defeat earlier this year. Benn has now revealed that this upcoming fight will be the last time he steps into the ring against Eubank, regardless of the outcome.
Back in April, despite struggling to make the 160-pound limit, Chris Eubank Jr. secured a unanimous decision win over Benn in a thrilling bout that many hailed as a fight-of-the-year contender. With a record of 35 wins and 3 losses (25 by knockout), Eubank Jr. demonstrated his skill and resilience.
Now, seven months later, Benn—who holds a 23-1 record with 14 knockouts—will attempt to become the first member of the Benn family to defeat an Eubank in the ring, aiming to even the score on their fourth meeting.
Four-time super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch, speaking on his YouTube channel Froch on Fighting, offered advice for Benn ahead of the rematch. Froch suggested a calmer, more patient strategy, encouraging Benn to rely on his jab and choose his shots carefully rather than rushing and applying relentless pressure.
“Conor Benn might be able to turn it around by boxing smartly, using the jab, and picking his moments instead of forcing the pace,” Froch said. “He hurt Eubank in round three last time, so if he’s clever, he can capitalize on that. But from sparring with Eubank, I know forcing pressure on him doesn’t work—Eubank fights fire with fire every time.”
‘The Cobra’ also revealed that Benn told him this will be their final showdown. “When I spoke to Conor recently, he said there won’t be a third fight, win or lose. He expects to win, but even if it’s 1-1, he doesn’t want a trilogy,” Froch explained. “Of course, money can change things, and if a big payday comes along for a third fight, that might tempt him. But right now, Benn wants to focus on his career and pursue a world title.”
The highly anticipated rematch, Eubank-Benn II, is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and will be broadcast live on DAZN PPV.
