Pound-for-pound legend Floyd Mayweather continues to thrive in retirement, capitalizing on his enduring popularity with yet another high-profile exhibition bout on the horizon. But in a recent interview, the 48-year-old hinted that a professional return to the ring may not be out of the question.

Mayweather, who retired with an immaculate 50-0 record (27 KOs) after winning world titles across five weight divisions, last fought professionally in 2017 when he stopped UFC star Conor McGregor in a blockbuster crossover event. Though that bout was billed as his final appearance, Mayweather has since participated in eight exhibition matches since 2018—making him more active than some reigning champions.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Mayweather will face fellow boxing icon Mike Tyson in what’s being promoted as ‘Legend vs. Legend’—a spectacle expected to be his most lucrative exhibition yet.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Mayweather expressed excitement about the upcoming event and promised fans a memorable night.

“I’m not really training right now. The fight is in 2026—we’re still ironing out everything—but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be exciting for the people and the fans,” he said.

“I just want to give the fans what they want: excitement. I’m glad I’m still able to entertain and that fans can still get a glimpse of the old me.”

When asked directly about the possibility of extending his perfect professional record, Mayweather didn’t rule it out. “[A professional return] is on the table. There have been talks. It’s possible,” he confirmed.

The Mayweather-Tyson exhibition is slated for Spring 2026, and fans will be hoping for a more spirited encounter than Tyson’s last outing—an underwhelming performance against Jake Paul in 2024, where the 59-year-old former heavyweight champion looked far removed from his prime.

As always with Mayweather, one thing is certain: when “Money” talks, the world of boxing listens.
