Chelsea Makes Official Bid for Victor Osimhen

Chelsea have formally bid for Victor Osimhen after months of speculation linking the Napoli striker with a Premier League move, according to NIGERIA NEWS 247.

Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Chelsea has submitted an official offer to Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, with formal negotiations with Napoli expected to start on Wednesday. Osimhen has already communicated his desire to leave Napoli, and it remains to be seen if a deal can be finalized before the August 31 transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s outcast Romelu Lukaku is nearing a move to Napoli, having traveled to Naples for a medical and to finalize his contract.

Although Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli also made a lucrative offer to Osimhen, Calenda confirmed on social media that Osimhen intends to stay in Europe for now.

Chelsea, eager to bolster their attack before the window closes, are also considering Brentford’s Ivan Toney as a backup option if they fail to secure Osimhen.

Osimhen has been a standout performer for Napoli since his transfer from Lille in 2020, scoring 76 goals in 133 appearances. He was recently named African Footballer of the Year and ranked eighth in the Ballon d’Or. Despite interest from Saudi Arabia and a reported €70m offer from Al-Ahli, the 25-year-old remains focused on his European career. His current Napoli contract, which includes a €130m release clause, runs until June 2026. Chelsea faces competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who had previously reached a preliminary agreement with Osimhen. As the transfer window nears its end, Osimhen continues to train separately from Napoli’s squad.
