Chelsea ‘reach agreement’ to sign Wolves winger Pedro Neto
Chelsea is close to finalizing a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto, according to reports.
The Blues have been seeking a wide forward throughout the summer and, after missing out on Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, have now turned their attention to the 24-year-old Neto.
Initial reports of the move surfaced from Fabrice Hawkins and were subsequently confirmed by multiple sources as details of the negotiations emerged.
The Athletic reports that Chelsea has agreed to pay an initial €60m (£51.4m) for Neto, with an additional €3m (£2.6m) in potential add-ons. A medical is expected to take place soon, paving the way for Neto to become Chelsea’s ninth signing of the summer. The club has also secured a deal to sign Palmeiras winger Estevao in 2025.
Neto, who was part of Portugal’s squad for Euro 2024, had attracted interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer after recording nine assists and two goals in 20 games during another injury-hit season.
Injuries have been a persistent issue for Neto during his time with Wolves, with last season’s 20 Premier League appearances marking his highest since the 2020/21 campaign.
Chelsea has already added Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Aaron Anselmino, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu, and Tosin Adarabioyo to their ranks this summer but continues to remain active in the transfer market.
Additionally, striker Samu Omorodion is close to completing a £38m move from Atletico Madrid, while 19-year-old goalkeeper Mike Penders is expected to be loaned back to Genk after finalizing his £17.1m transfer.
